Missing six-year-old found in Amsterdam
Almost three years after his son went missing, former NSW deputy fire chief Ken Thompson has learned the six-year-old boy is in Amsterdam. Fairfax reported on Thursday that a school principal in northern Europe became suspicious after noticing Andrew's passport had expired, following an attempt to enrol him at the school. The Australian Federal Police issued a warrant for Ms Stratton's arrest and Interpol managed to trace her to Frankfurt in Germany.
Boy FOUND! Melinda Thompson arrested in Amsterdam
Information to hand this morning advised that Andrew has been found in Amsterdam. He is now is now in the care of a family pending a court process that has to be followed. Melinda Thompson has been taken into secured custody and is under arrest. Australian authorities say Andrew, 4, was abducted by his mother, Mr Thompson's estranged wife Melinda, in 2008. The pair flew from Sydney to Singapore and then on to the German city of Frankfurt, where they disappeared.
Ken Thompson cycles Europe in desperate search for his son
Australian Ken Thompson has spent every day for three months cycling through Europe, looking for his son. But there is no telling where, when, how or even if his remarkable journey will end. He says, quite frankly, he doesn't care if it takes the rest of his life, just as long as he finds his little boy. He has cycled through over half a dozen countries in his desperate search to find his missing son.
Fathers 'stereotyped' by Child Support Agency
The government watchdog responsible for overseeing child support payments has been unfairly focusing on parents who do not pay enough while ignoring those who are getting too much, the Commonwealth Ombudsman says. In his report the acting Ombudsman, Ron Brent, found that the CSA had at times been unduly influenced by stereotypes about fathers not meeting their obligations.
